Can you talk about your job description for our readers?

I am the director of Data Market Department of Business Solutions Development. I and my team are in charge of Microsoft technologies, cloud technologies, digital channels, and marketing and selling Data Market products, and work development.

 

What kind of services do you provide and for which sectors?

As Data Market, we aim to attain flexibility, business continuity, and efficiency through corporate solutions for our references in telecommunications, retail, health, and general sectors. We provide solutions and services to our clients regarding portal and business flow solutions, management of customer relations and documents and corporate content, management of service desks and services, identity management, messaging and combined communication, network and security components, system management, data storage and virtualization, business continuity, data centre and cloud informatics.

 

Digital transformation has been a hotly debated issue in business world for the past five years. In your opinion, how does the business world achieve this transformation? IS there sufficient awareness on this issue?

The earth-shattering changes in technology, increasing and globalising rivalry, and customer expectations force institutions to inevitably undergo a digital transformation. Institutions are in need of changing their technologies, coming to the fore and digital transformation to satisfy customer expectations. Our country is new in the digitalisation process. Many institutions are taking the issue seriously, but, some are still not aware of its importance. Banking sector in our country is leading the field in terms of digitalisation followed by service, retail, and automotive sectors. Especially together with Industry 4.0, it is important for manufacturing sector to invest in digitalisation process hastily in order to maintain its share in the world market and compete with global corporations. In order to accelerate in digitalisation, it is necessary to manage many agendas simultaneously. The key point is to determine long-term strategies and create channels to reach customers which means reaching customers without mediators.

How should technology be placed in a corporation for efficiency?

It is a must for businesses to be productive and increase their efficiency to gain continuity and success. We observe that institutions which realise digital transformation are able to respond to their customers faster and more easily compared to their competitors, notice threatening situations beforehand and prevent them, and start to rise financially thanks to the positive effects of this transformation. Technology should be employed in order for an institution to maintain and achieve success. When we examine research, we can see a positive relation between investments in technology and increase in business performance.

 

All departments should use information technology effectively and develop innovations so as to respond individual needs of customers, keep up with changes, and bring about changes. Businesses that meet these requirements guarantee continuity.

The effect and importance of information technologies have increased to figure out problems arising from irregularities and incompatibilities between manufacturing functions and other systems. In order to improve communication between manufacturing functions and other systems, "The internet of things" makes great contributions to businesses.

 

What are the greatest difficulties of this transformation?

Research shows that only 10% of businesses see themselves as leaders in terms of digital transformation and 17% think that digitalisation will determine the future of their businesses. 42% believe that digital transformation is significant, but think that there are other high -priority issues such as financial concerns.

One of the obstacles to digital transformation is age old technologies and infrastructure. Hence, businesses cannot integrate with digital technologies. Because the negative effects of old practices on business agility create extra financial burden on budgets, business may not prioritise digital transformation.

 

Besides, businesses need a cultural change in their IT organisations. Time cost of digital transformation increases because IT organisations which are accustomed to work with traditional systems need to gain experience on new and contemporary applications.

What will be trends in technology in 2018? What will be the new innovations for business world?

Many technology trends will be widely discussed in 2018 and they will have serious effects on our lives. However, it is not enough for technology only to adapt to this great change. All processes and points of view of businesses should suit digital transformation. Real success will come when businesses succeed in digital transformation and adopt digital mentality.
