‘Hotels should improve their comfort services regarding customer needs'
Purchasing manager for Mars Logistics Saib Ergör described hotel and accommodation expectation of the business world for The Look.
Please introduce yourself briefly.
I have been working for Mars Logistics as the Purchasing Manager for 3 years. We manage all purchasing processes with my teammates Ali Yurtseven, Ufuk Sarsılmaz, and Erşan Solcan.
What is Mars Logistics? What are its areas of activity and what is its market share?
Started in 1989, Mars Logistics operates as a company that provides all logistics services perfectly. It provides international road transport, air transport, maritime transport, and rail transport as well as project transport, intermodal transport, fair and events logistics, storing, customs management and insurance. Our head office is in Istanbul, but we also have both national and international branches. We offer intelligent solutions to our customers with our duty-paid and duty-free storage services over a 150,000 m2 open and close area. We also provide services to sectors such as automotive, textile, chemistry, health, cosmetics, energy and retail. Having one of the youngest and greatest fleets on Turkey, Mars Logistics has 1960 vehicles and provide road transport in Europe, North Africa, the Balkans, and Turkic Republics. Mars Air and Maritime Shipping is a founding member of WIN and reach all countries in the world.
What are your responsibilities at Mars Logistics?
I work as the Purchasing Manager and I and my teammates manage all purchasing processes of our group companies. Some of our purchasing items are haul trucks and trailers, fuel purchasing, spare parts, services, and stationery.
As the Purchasing Manager, what factors do you take into account for your event and meeting organisations? What are the expectations of the business world from the hotels?
Firstly, location and size of the hotels are significant for us. We also consider the service we are to receive. We want our meetings to reach its goals such as gaining maximum efficiency from the meeting, which is an important part of our job and which we organise for a change. For this reason, facilities like air conditioning, lighting system, audio system in case we need microphones, and display system. In order not to encounter a surprising situation, we do our best to take everything for granted.

I hope some solutions will be found and quality hotels continue to provide service. Hereby, they should improve their comfort services, which will also be beneficial for consumers."
What do you think about the development of hotels? What further developments do they need in terms of their understanding of services?
I love to compete as a purchasing manager since it has positive reflections on our expenditures directly. For this reason, I believe that ventures that provide quality service are beneficial to the consumers. However, due to hotels may sometimes suffice in a city like Istanbul that lets in immigrants because of some urban problems. I hope some solutions will be found and quality hotels continue to provide service. Hereby, they should improve their comfort services, which will also be beneficial for consumers.
How do you spend your holidays? What are your favourite destinations?
I prefer to spend my holidays in places near the sea, which is also good for my kid. Before I had my kid, I used to go abroad very often. Maybe when he grows up, we might go abroad more and spend my holidays getting around.
